Hat #39
Pattern: Claudia by MJ Kim Yarn: Berroco Vintage™
This hat is special because it’s part of a project to thank those in the Wisconsin Assembly and Senate who opposed the budget repair bill. Knitters are making hats for each member (Democrat or Republican) who voted against the measure. Many used orange yarn to match the t-shirts worn by the Assembly Democrats.
I love the latticework in...

Minimalist Knitter Handbook! →
So exciting… Robyn Devine, who is also making 100 hats (hers are for charity, and she’s doing it in one year), has written an eBook on minimalist knitting. And she’s giving it away for free! I love her approach and knew she was a kindred spirit when I first learned of her hat blog. She also writes the Minimalist Knitter blog. Go, check it out!

Hat #25
Pattern: Thorpe by Kirsten Kapur Yarn: Caron One Pound (in the ever-popular Minnesota colors)
This project used up the last of the red and most of the gold. Two pounds of each color transformed into an afghan, a scarf, and three different hats. (Miss Head says, “Whoa.”)

Hat #23
Pattern: Mondo Cable Cap by Bonne Marie Burns Yarn: Dark Horse Yarns Fantasy
Yes, I made this pattern again by special request. It’s a gift for my mom’s friend, whose birthday is Valentine’s Day. The yarn is acrylic, but it’s a very nice acrylic. Soft enough for a sweater, IMO.
Here it is being blocked on a plate.

Hat #21
Pattern: Rain Down by Robyn Devine Yarn: Caron One Pound
This was made from the same yarn as a recently completed crocheted afghan project. (Note the Minnesota colors - both projects were for Golden Gopher friends of my daughter.) I probably could have cast on fewer stitches with a larger needle - I forgot how acrylic knits up!
Another view and from the top. And here is the afghan.

Hat #18 for real
Pattern: Felted Bucket Hat by Bonne Marie Burns Yarn: Cascade 220
And it’s finished! Amazing what a difference a bit of felting can make. Fun fact: I crouched on the front porch wearing my pajamas in zero-degree weather to take this picture.

This is my 3rd Mondo cap, so that pattern will be going away for a while. In other news, 17 is my lucky number, so I thought it was only fitting to make Hat #17 a gift for my mom.

Hat #15 for Mei
Mei is Shawn’s daughter. Shawn and I went to high school together and reconnected on Facebook after (no-we’re-not-that-old-thank-you-very-much) years. This hat was a Christmas commission, but of course it still counts as one of my 100. I think it looks great with Mei’s curly hair!

Hat #7
Pattern: Mondo Cable Cap by ChicKnits Yarn: Sublime Yarns Cashmere Merino Silk Aran, color #0056 mole
This beret is unfinished, as I ran out of yarn just a few rounds from the end and couldn’t find the brand and color anywhere but online. This development forced me to decide on a numbering system: hats are to be numbered in the order they are cast on. The queen hath spoken.
